AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa today said the reported employment of Chinese labour to revamp infrastructure in war-ravaged areas of Sri Lanka can be detrimental to India's security and asked the Centre to "act before it is too late".

Chinese labour force in Sri Lanka is "infiltrated with Chinese spies and intelligence personnel, with a specific mandate to commence anti-Indian surveillance and espionage operations from India's hitherto safe southern flanks", she alleged in a statement here.

She raised apprehensions that it could immediately affect Tamil Nadu as "Sri Lanka is hardly 20 km away from the southern coast of Tamil Nadu."

"The Indian Government should act before it is too late. It has to talk to Sri Lanka and talk tough," she said. "Indian tax payers money, sent for the benefit of Tamils in Sri Lanka is ending up in China's kitty", she said, referring to the Indian aid of Rs 1000 crore for rehabilitation of displaced minority Tamils in the northern and eastern areas of Sri Lanka.
