The University of Wales said arrangements were being made to transfer the affected students to courses at other institutions.
The UK on Tuesday said that many Indian students affected by the closure of a business school in London will be accommodated in other colleges even as India asserted that it will do “everything possible” to ensure that its students are not adversely impacted.
The London campus of the Pune-based TASMAC, which offered MBA and other courses validated by the University of Wales, was shut down last week following the tightening of norms for short-duration courses.
The University of Wales said arrangements were being made to transfer the affected students to courses at other institutions.
The university said in a statement: “Discussions are on with other collaborative centres for the transfer of the 650 students on University of Wales programmes.”
Almost 200 Indian students will be affected by the closure.
The ministry of external affairs on Tuesday said, “Our high commission in London has established immediate contact with TASMAC, which has conveyed that it is working with the University of Wales to transfer the students to other educational institutions so that their studies are not disrupted.”
India’s high commission, the ministry said, has since placed an advisory on its website asking affected Indian students to contact its officials if they need any help. “So far, no student has contacted the high commission. Its officials have visited the TASMAC campus in London and have also sought a meeting with the UK Borders Agency, which should materialise soon,” the ministry said.
The university said any transfers of students would be subject to the requirements of the UK Borders Agency.
