How Hitler planned to invade Hollywood

Historians have shed light on a secret Nazi compound - located in the tranquil Los Angeles hills between celebrity mansions and olive trees- from where Adolf Hitler looked forward to rule the world.

If Germany had won the Second World War, the Fuhrer was to manage the New World Order from Murphy Ranch in California.

Built by American sympathisers of the Nazi cause, this ranch was the heavily-guarded home to a community of 50 Hollywood fascists who planned to ride out the war there until the Third Reich was victorious, the Daily Express reported.

The day after Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7, 1941, police broke-in the place and took away its occupants.

Now desolated by time, the property still stands, just a mile or so from the home of Schindler’s List director Steven Spielberg.

One of the most haunting landmarks in Los Angeles, it will soon be bulldozed and transformed into a picnic area for hikers.

“This was supposed to be the seat of American fascism from where Hitler would one day rule the United States,” historian Randy Young said.

It was an elegant place for, as Young said: “They may have been Nazis but they were Nazis with taste.”

In 1933, the 55-acre ranch was sold by screen cowboy Will Rogers to mining fortune heiress Jessie Murphy who afterwards became enchanted by a charismatic German known only as Herr Schmidt, who was secretly Hitler’s special agent in California.

This was thought to be the seat of American fascism from where Hitler would one day rule the United States.
