Haiti loan will be interest-free for two years: IMF

Haiti will not pay interest on a proposed $100 million loan from the International Monetary Fund until the end of 2011 under an agreement struck last year that froze interest payments on IMF loans to poor countries, an IMF spokeswoman said on Thursday.                                           

The loan proposal for the quake-devastated country is expected to be approved by the IMF's board on January 27, spokeswoman Caroline Atkinson told a news briefing.
