The city crime branch has sent a team to Chattisgarh after it was revealed that a prank threat E-mail received by one security agency to blow up the visiting Sri Lankan team in Ahmedabad was sent from Janjdirchampa district of that state.
"One Ashok Karsh had written the threat E-mail in the name of Rajesh Karsh who is his brother-in-law as there was some personal animosity between the two," assistant commissioner of police, and head of the cybercrime team, Usha Rada told PTI.
"The Chhattisgarh police has filed a complaint against Ashok and are investigating the matter," she said.
This information was revealed during the interrogation of the cybercafe owner Sukhiram Sahu, in Janjdirchampa district from where the E-mail was sent.
A team from Gujarat police had gone to Janjdirchampa and question Sahu and has assessed his cybercafe records, she said.
The E-mail, which was sent couple of days ago, said that Sri Lankan cricket team would be blown up on November 16, the first day of their Test against India at Sardar Patel stadium, Motera, here.
Security was further tightened for the visiting team here following the E-mail. Sri Lanka and India are playing their first test here.
