Pakistani security forces today killed four militants and injured several others during operations against the banned Lashkar-e-Islam group in the restive Khyber tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

The militants were gunned down during operations in Bara area of Khyber Agency, officials of the Frontier Corps said.

Troops also conducted operations against militants in the nearby Orakzai Agency and took control of Sara Garhi area.

They also captured a large cache of arms and ammunition. The security forces were in hot pursuit of fleeing militants, officials said.

The Frontier Corps has said over 50 militants have been killed in Khyber Agency since a major offensive was launched in the semi-autonomous tribal region last week.
