A former parliamentarian was gunned down along with his wife and bodyguard by unidentified assailants in Pakistan's northwest today, police said.
Akhtar Nawaz Khan, a former member of the senate or upper house of parliament, his wife and guard were killed in Derresh village in Haripur district.
The gunmen entered Khan’s home and fired indiscriminately. All three persons died on the spot, police said.
The motive for the attack is yet to be ascertained, they said.
Khan was the cousin of PML-Q leader and former foreign minister Gohar Ayub Khan.
Police registered a case and launched a search for the assailants.
