Five Taliban militants killed in North West Pakistan

Five Taliban militants, including group's senior commander Bakht Farzand who carried a reward of Rs1 crore on his head, was killed today and three others injured during an operation by security forces in North West Pakistan.


Two other militants, Shina Commando and Mian Gul, who were killed in the operation in Pattan area were also wanted by the authorities.


The three injured militants were captured by the security forces, officials said.


A young girl was also killed when security forces stormed the house in which the militants were hiding.


One soldier and a policeman were also injured in the operation. Police officials said security forces raided the house after receiving a tip off that the militants were hiding there.


Farzand belonged to Natta area of Quatt valley, a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban.
