New Delhi: Environment minister Jairam Ramesh said on Monday global climate talks in Copenhagen would be at a "dead end" if a Danish draft proposal urging a 50% cut in global emissions was put forward.

"If the Denmark draft is any indication then we are heading to a dead end," Jairam Ramesh told reporters in New Delhi.

Earlier, a draft proposal obtained by Reuters said the world should cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2050 from 1990 levels with the bulk of the reduction coming from rich nations.
