SINGAPORE: A $10 million wedding between an Indian tycoon's son and the daughter of a Singapore-based Indian steel baron has grabbed media headlines.

Adarsh Garodia, son of a Kolkata-based millionaire, married Neha Didwania, daughter of the Singapore-based owner of a worldwide steel supply chain, in a glittering ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Singapore on Tuesday.

The event had all the trappings for it to be dubbed the wedding of the year-a 6.5-carat engagement ring, a 10-carat diamond wedding band worth at least $1 million and 2,000 guests, 300 of whom were flown in from countries such as India, Japan, the US and Britain.

The 27-year-old groom arrived on a white horse to tie the knot with the 25-year-old bride, who holds a master's degree from the London School of the Economics.

The Ritz Carlton's associate director for social events Shamini Suppiah said, "This is the largest scale wedding that we have had here, not only in terms of guest rooms, but also in terms of the traditions and ceremonies that are taking place in the hotel. Some of these ceremonies are usually held at home but in this case, they are all held here."

The newly weds will leave for a month-long honeymoon in Greece and Italy before settling down in Kolkata.
