Although, New Year Celebrations were marred in Australia with an unfortunate accident after a seaplane crashed into a river on Sunday.
Six people on a "wine and dine" sightseeing flight ahead of the city's New Year's Eve celebrations at the harbour were killed including the pilot of the seaplane.
Police said they did not know the cause of the crash, nor the identities of the five passengers, but were speaking with several witnesses who were in boats on one of the waterways' busiest days of the year.
Nevertheless celebrations continued at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House as Fireworks light up the sky as part of new year celebrations in Australia.
