WARNING - DISTURBING LANGUAGE IN VIDEO
Updated : Feb 13, 2017, 02:54 PM IST
A shocking video on Twitter has emerged of a woman making racist comments and attacking a Hijab-clad Muslim woman in New Zealand.
28-year-old Mehpara Khan and her friends were returning from a road trip in Auckland when they stopped at a rest stop in Huntly where the incident occurred.
At first, Khan and her friends didn't realise the woman yelling, was speaking to them until she said "Muslim b-words", she told NZ Herald.
That is when she decided to record the attack she posted on Twitter. The video shows her attacker, who appears to be intoxicated, abusing them and at one point she shouts to Khan:"Get the f*** off you ugly f***** Muslim b****." She then proceeds to fling a beer bottle at them.
Who said islamophobia doesn't exist. This just happened in Huntley. I'm shaking. pic.twitter.com/yoVMNON1rA

The group filed a police complaint of the incident that left them "shaking" when they arrived Manukau, Auckland, stuff.co.nz reports.

Khan also posted a message on Twitter in appreciation of the many positive comments and support she received from people and is overwhelmed by it.
Thanks everyone for your comments and support - this is so overwhelming. I'm still with the police - will try and respond once I'm done.

My phone is over run with positive messages right now. So good to know that we as Kiwis don't accept this as our NZ.

While stuff.co.nz reported the woman that attacked the group is in custody and being charged "with assault, assault with a weapon and offensive language", Khan, in a show of grace, expressed she would like to meet the woman she filmed and that she told police to tell her attacker she forgives her.
Quick update. I've asked police to tell her we forgive her. We just want her to get whatever support she needs...1/2

...and we'd like to meet with her if that's something she wants. So thankful for all the love and support we've received.
