The Jabalpur High Court on Tuesday ordered the removal of the name of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav from the FIR related to the Vyapam Scam.

On April 17, the high court had stayed his arrest and the FIR lodged by Special Task Force (STF) against Yadav in scam case. Yadav had challenged the FIR claiming that he was immune to such action due to his constitutional authority.

The Vyapam Scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, which holds exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments. Candidates allegedly bribed government officials to ensure that they made it to the list of those who cleared the test. It was a massive admission and recruitment scam in which politicians, senior officials and businessmen played a major role. On the basis of a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by parents after the illegal selection of about 300 students in the merit list, the Indore Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court served notices on the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) and the Medical Council of India (MCI).

It was found that irregularities and crooked deals were taking place in the pre-medical test (PMT) since 2009. The scam was unearthed in 2013. Several officials and BJP politicians were found to be involved. The kingpin of the impersonation racket Dr. Jagdish Sagar was arrested and subsequently several other influential people were arrested, including ex-state education minister Laxmikant Sharma, MPPEB exam controller Pankaj Trivedi, MPPEB system analysts Nitin Mahendra and Ajay Sen and state PMT's examination in-charge CK Mishra.

The credit to expose the scam goes to Indore based medical practitioner Dr. Anand Rai.
