Carnegie Mellon, USA's top ranked engineering college, accidentally admitted 800 students to its computer science programme, only to backtrack seven hours later.
Post the fiasco, the university quickly took step to inform the concerned students about the gaffe, which proved to be a watershed moment for aspiring candidates.
Ironically the congratulatory letter mentioned 'Welcome to Carnegie Mellon', and also stated that less than 9 percent of the 1200 applicants were selected for their programme.
It may well be 'Bye Bye Mellon' for the students as for now!
