Saudi Arabia Grand Mufti says nothing wrong with underage marriage

Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti has said that there was nothing wrong with girls below 15 getting married.

Amidst bold attempts to force changes on the grounds and pushing for setting up the minimum age, Shaikh Abdul Aziz Al Shaikh said that there was currently no intention to discuss the issue, Gulf News reported.

The justice ministry had submitted an integrated study on the negative psychological and social effects of underage marriages to religious scholars two years ago, which included medical, social and religious views as well as a set of recommendations and had even requested a fatwa that sets a minimum age.
