Russia Church Shooting: Officials identify attacker as 22-year-old Khalil Khalilov

The perpetrator of the deadly shooting at a church in Russia's Kizlyar town in Dagestan has been identified as a 22-year-old resident of the region, Khalil Khalilov.

The perpetrator of the deadly shooting at a church in Russia's Kizlyar town in Dagestan has been identified as a 22-year-old resident of the region, Khalil Khalilov.

"The killed shooter was identified as Khalil Khalilov, 22, a resident of Rassvet village of Dagestan's Tarumovsky District," a statement by Kizlyar's administration stated.

Khalilov opened fire on people leaving a church service, on Sunday, killing five people.

He was then killed in retaliatory firing.

The motive behind the shooting is however yet to be ascertained.

According to Russian news agency TASS, Head of Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov has said that the accused has no connection to Islam.
