The former SAS sniper, known as Soldier N, who was at the centre of the Princess Diana murder probe, has finally retuned to Britain from the Middle East and will be facing an interrogation with Scotland Yard soon.

The Mirror had previously revealed that Soldier N went missing before he was due to be quizzed by police as part of a fresh investigation into the death of the Princess.

He is said to have told his wife that a Special Forces hit squad flashed a light to blind Diana's driver and caused her death crash - using a technique developed to combat terrorists.

A source told the UK publication that the former sergeant was told in no uncertain terms he had to return to face the music.

The insider asserted that Soldier N was aware that the police wanted to interview him over claims he said the SAS were responsible for Diana’s death, and running away wasn’t the most sensible option.

Soldier N is now back in Britain and expects to be interviewed by the police, the spy added.
