A Norwegian academic has reportedly said that upto one in nine Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) fighters born in Britain are likely to indulge in terrorist activities back on British soil. Thomas Hegghammer reached the conclusion after conducting a thorough research on foreign fighters returning to their homeland in the West in order to commit domestic terror attacks, reported The Daily Star.

His study has found that 107 jihadists out of 945 have perpetrated acts of terrorism in their native countries after waging war overseas. The large number of people migrating from the western nations to Iraq and Syria to join the ranks of ISIS has already alarmed the west. Both the United States and the United Kingdom have expressed their concerns over the exodus.
