Queen Elizabeth II born on April 21, 1926, celebrates her 90th birthday next week. The British Monarchy Website says that the Queen will celebrate this day at Windsor along with the royal family.

The Queen’s birthday celebration is the highlight of 2016 with events taking place in April, May and June. Some of these events are open for public participation – some free and some via tickets.

The Queen celebrates her birthday twice in a year - actual birthday on April 21, and the official celebration in June, usually the second Saturday of the month.

The official celebrations are to mark the Sovereigns' birthday and are held on a day other than the actual birthday which is not in the summer. The official celebration is marked by the Birthday Parade which is also known as Trooping the Colour.

On June 12, the Queen shall attend the Patron's Lunch which marks the celebration of patronage of over 600 organisations in the UK and around the Commonwealth.

In order to celebrate the Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birth anniversary, BBC One is set to release a documentary with footage from the Queen’s personal films.
