Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asked Indian professionals in Germany to act as a bridge between the two countries to help pitchfork India as a global manufacturing hub, promising a conducive atmosphere for it.

"It is a win-win situation for both countries," he said while addressing the Indian community here. "Indian professionals in Germany can become a bridge between India and Germany to realise our objective of making India a manufacturing hub," Modi said. Underlining the need for a "balanced growth", he said equal emphasis has to be laid on agricultural, manufacturing and services sectors.
Citing the IT revolution, Modi noted that Indians had a big role to play in it. Many of the CEOs in the Silicon Valley are of Indian origin, he said while stressing that ventures like Google could have originated from India if these professionals were assured of a good environment for innovation in India.
Recalling his meeting with a group of Chinese students in the US, the Prime Minister said on asking what their plans were after studies, all of them responded by stating that they will work for 10 years in America and then take this experience back to China to take it forward.
In candid remarks, Modi said, "We are Hercules in our country but when we go out we come to realise many things and we are inspired to compete and achieve greater heights." He asserted that making India a manufacturing hub is not just an economic goal for him but also a "self-respect movement".
Many products come from outside the country, he said adding on a lighter note that even for dealing with protests "we have to get teargas cannisters from abroad."
