Pakistan: TV anchor shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Karachi

The incident took place at Khyaban-e-Jami road near the defense area in Pakistan capital where the TV anchor was shot dead.

A private news channel anchor Mureed Abbas was shot dead in Karachi during a gunfight in Pakistan capital on Tuesday. 

The incident took place at Khyaban-e-Jami road near the defense area in Pakistan capital where the TV anchor was shot dead.

While Mureed Abbas died on the spot, one of his colleague Khizer was also injured and is in a critical situation at present. 

According to Karachi Police, the Mureed Abbas was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in what appeared was a targeted attack in Karachi.

The incident took place when he was standing near a roadside at Karachi's Khyaban-e-Jami area when some unidentified men opened fire at him and colleague.

Though an investigation in the case been initiated, police said this could be a result of victim's personal feud.

As part of the investigation, the CCTV footage in the area is being examined and eyewitnesses statements are also being recorded.

Apart from Mureed Abbas, two others were also filled in the firing incident.
