Pak man accused of killing Indian doctor in Abu Dhabi commits suicide

A Pakistani national arrested for his alleged role in the murder of an Indian doctor in Abu Dhabi has reportedly committed suicide.

Mohammad Jamil, 46, committed suicide by hanging himself on November 10, official sources said.

Jamil was accused of pre-meditated murder of Dr Rajan Daniel, 62, a consultant Urologist at a hospital in Abu Dhabi city on November 1 at the doctor's consultation room.

According to Gulf News, Abu Dhabi Police earlier said Jamil had attempted to commit suicide while he was in police custody after his arrest and he was referred to Psychiatric treatment.

The Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed that it issued a no-objection certificate to a relative of Jamil on Sunday for the repatriation of the body to Pakistan.

The police had earlier said that Jamil allegedly committed the crime for not getting relief from a painful disease despite the doctor's treatment.

According to the report, the police said Jamil had allegedly stabbed the doctor with a kitchen knife, which he had purchased from a grocery near the hospital, just before visiting the doctor.
