Father of Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp has claimed they don't hate the Paralympic star despite allegations he killed their daughter at his home.

Barry Steenkamp said he was struggling to find some reason why this happened to their lovely daughter, the Daily Mail reports.

Steenkamp had been dating Pistorius, a double-amputee known as the Blade Runner, since November.

Pistorius broke down in tears in court when he was formally charged with Steenkamp's premeditated murder. Barry said the Bladerunner must be going through things that they don't know about, adding there is no hatred in their hearts.

Steenkamp was shot dead in the early hours of Valentine's Day at his gated mansion in Pretoria. It has been reported she was hit four times by bullets fired through the door of a bathroom. Pistorius, who is a keen marksman owns a pistol and a machine gun.

Barry, a horse trainer, wept as he said he and his wife June were at a complete loss after their daughter's sudden death, adding this is a very difficult time for them and Steenkamp's mother is inconsolable.

Barry added they just need to find some answers, and they ask the Lord every day to help them find a reason why this should happen to their daughter, adding that she was the most beautiful, kind girl in the world.

Barry said his daughter had love for everyone, and everyone who knew her loved her.

Steenkamp's father also said he had never met Pistorius, but his wife occasionally spoke to him on the phone.
