Ram Prasad Sapkota, the doctor from Prasuti Griha hospital in Kathmandu has found fame following his heroic actions during the tragic earthquake, reports Hindustan Times.

When the quake hit the country, Sapkota and his team stood by their patient, a pregnant woman needing urgent surgery, instead of running away to save their own lives.

The woman had already lost her child in the womb. The still born baby had to be delivered or else she would have lost her life. But even as the surgery went on, the quake led the cautery machine which is used to stop heavy bleeding to slid towards the doctor. The surgery went successfully.

Six hours after the quake, he was back in the Operation Theatre, this time performing a caesarean section to deliver a baby lying in the womb in a transverse position.
