Nawaz Sharif underlines resolve to fight terrorism but skips reference to India

While presiding over a high level meeting of parliamentary parties in Peshawar following a horrific attack on a school in the city, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan should not allow militants to use their borders for terror activities but steered clear of making any references to India.

Sharif described the attack as a "national tragedy unleashed by savages" and reaffirmed his determination to continue military operations against terrorists. He added that both Kabul and Islamabad would launch major offensive against terrorists, reported Geo News.

He said that Pakistan has borne economic losses and other huge losses in its fight against terrorism but the nation will get rid of the menace soon.

The meeting was attended by all the top political parties including, Awami National Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, and Pakistan People's Party, Qaumi Watan Party, Pashtunkhwa Mili Awami Party and others. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, who has been protesting against the government since August also attended the meeting.

Almost 10 terrorists stormed inside an army-run school in Peshawar dressed as Frontier Corps' officers and killed 141 people including, 132 children and 9 staff members of the school.
