There is nothing as powerful as a mother's love and time to time several incidents have proved so. Photo of a young mother is going viral who bravely used her battered body to save her baby from giant hail.

Fiona Simpson, 23, was driving from Nanango on the D'Aguilar Highway to her home with her 78-year-old grandmother and 4-month-old daughter when the rain started to roll in.

While talking to Australian Broadcasting Corp, Simpson said she had not heard the warnings but knew she needed to pull her car over when the rain started getting heavy.

"I wasn't driving very fast because I couldn't see very well… I couldn't see in front of me, I couldn't even see the line on the road", Simpson said to Australian Broadcasting Corp.

She said the next thing she heard was a large bang. "All this rain starts coming in, and the back window where my daughter was was just open ... it's gone," she said.

The rain got heavier, and then it started to hail — blowing out a back-seat window of the vehicle and putting her infant in danger. Without thinking, Simpson said, she unlatched her seat belt, jumped into the back seat and threw her body over the baby, trying to shield the child from the icy pellets that were pouring into the vehicle.

Her split-second decision saved her baby's life and people on social media are praising for her quick decision.

"toughest mother in Australia! this brings tears to my eyes. I hope she and her bub are ok. She is a warrior!", wrote a Sarah on Twitter.

She and her grandmother had to spend a night in hospital from where she posted confronting images of her injuries on social media. The pictures showed her back, shoulders and arms were entirely covered in angry welts and bruises.

The image has got more than 10k retweets and 33k likes.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison also praised Simpson’s courage. “I certainly think she is one of the bravest people I have read of lately,” Mr Morrison said to a leading Australian daily.

Simpson has been nominated for the bravery award. Read Simpson's Facebook post here...
