Michelle Obama is all set to take on the role of an author.

The first lady is coming up with her maiden book named American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools and Communities.

According to iVillage, the Obama’s changed the way they eat a few years ago when their pediatrician became concerned with their daughters’ Body Mass Index (BMI), and the book will detail how they got rid of sweets, processed foods and juice boxes.

“It was really we just substituted real food for processed food. That was really the major difference. So grape juice was actually juice from a grape, which was pretty cool,” Radar Online quoted her as telling the site.

Michelle further told that she had been receiving letters from children who were inquisitive about the garden at the White House. She said the book will put light on the garden along with her views on how to create a better sense of community, school and how to utilise farmers markets.

“We’ve heard so many great stories from kids who’ve been inspired and doing things like changing the way their families do things,” she added.

The book is reportedly hitting the shelves of the bookstores in April, 2012.

All the proceeds after reducing the tax will go to an unnamed charity.
