The non-indictment of police officer Darren Wilson, by the grand jury which was investigating the fatal shooting of an unarmed teenager Michael Brown, has left most of the United States outraged. As expected, the streets of Ferguson exploded into protests, and parts of it spiralled into chaos, with shops, and businesses being burnt down and looted. Gunshots have been fired at the police, and multiple county police cars has been vandalised and set on fire. The police, reportedly, have replied with teargas shells and pepper spray to keep protestors at bay.
People have also taken to social media to express their opinion- mostly angst and disappointment- over the verdict. Twitter statistics say that over the past few hours ' #FergusonDecision' has been the most trending topic worldwide. Some prominent personalities, too, have opined on Twitter about today's events.
R&B singer singer Pharell Williams expressed his disappointment at the verdict and urged everyone to maintain peace.
I'm heartbroken over the news of no indictment in Ferguson. Let's all pray for peace.
