Cabin crew of a Turkish Airlines flight assisted in the birth of a baby which occurred soon after the flight took off, reported BBC.

Passengers in the Boeing 737, travelling from Guinea's capital Conakry to Istanbul via Ouagadougou, too came to the rescue of the pregnant woman.

Nafi Diaby and her newly-born daughter Kadiju were taken to a hospital as soon as the flight landed in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso's capital).  Both were later reported to be tired, but in good health.

A statement from Turkish Airlines said that when the cabin crew noticed Diaby, who was 28 weeks into her pregnancy, suffering childbirth pains, they promptly responded to help her.

At the time of Kadiju's birth, the plane was at an altitude of 42,000ft.
