John Kerry, Russia's Sergei Lavrov discuss Syria crisis by phone

According to the ministry, the Russian minister expressed councerns about delay in resumption of political negotiations.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and United States Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the Syria crisis on a phone call on Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Lavrov expressed concern about attempts to delay the resumption of political negotiations under various pretexts," the ministry said.

According to reports, more than 2,000 militants have gathered in northern Aleppo, the Russian ceasefire-monitoring centre in Syria said on Saturday.

"More than 2,000 militants from different terrorist organisations and groups of the so-called 'moderate opposition' are concentrated in the region of Sheikh Maqsoud," the centre said in a statement.
