After a deadly earthquake of 7.3 magnitude hit Japan, reports state that a carpet of mysterious foam filled the streets of Fukuoka city.

Fukuoka is a few hours' drive away from the epicenter of Friday's earthquake on Kyushu island. According to the residents of the city, they soon found a blanket of foam which was several inches deep soon after the earthquakes.

Although the officials from the Fukuoka town hall could not explain the foam in the streets, the residents speculated that it may have been due to some underground pipe rupture caused by the quake.

Soon after the foam started spreading through the streets, the residents took to social media posting the pictures of the foam and calling it "disgusting," Mirror reported.

The tremors and earthquakes in Japan over the last four days have taken lives more than 30 people and have injured more than 1,500.
