Italian police said on Thursday 17 people had been arrested in various European countries as part of a joint operation against suspected members of a terrorist group.
A statement gave no details about the operation code named "JWEB", saying they would be disclosed at a news conference later on Thursday. The statement said they were suspected of "international terrorism". A spokesman declined to say how many arrests were made in Italy but added that none of the arrested were Italians.
