A report prepared by the Islamabad police has reportedly termed a video message by students of Jamia Hafsa, in which they invited Islamic State (IS) chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to Pakistan to avenge the 2007 military raid on Lal Masjid, as an act of "waging war" against the state, a report said.

The report forwarded to the interior ministry said that the message conveyed by the madressah students in the video released by Shuhada Foundation came under Sections 121/121-A 505(1)b/505(2) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) which includes, attempt to wage war and abetment to wage war against the state, reported the Dawn.

Pakistani security agencies had already warned the government that the resurgence of Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz, who is believed to have links with militant groups and is known for his anti-government rhetoric, posed a security threat to the law and order situation in the capital city of Islamabad.

The report had also stressed on the need to keep a check on the growing number of madressahs in Rawalpindi, who have overt or covert links with militant groups.
