'Iron Lady' Margaret Thatcher tried to ban sex toys in Britain

The Former Prime Minister of UK Margaret Thatcher tried to ban sex toys using an anti-pornography law as revealed by the documents of the National Archives. The National Archives released its yearly haul of previously protected information where Thatcher was seen as a priority, and reportedly had the support of her cabinet, and Home Secretary Leon Brittan informing the PM, the Daily Star reported.

The Leader of the Conservative Party received a memo on the subject in 1986 from Brittan in which it was stated that some circulated items in the market were most objectionable, including ones which can cause physical injury. The 45-year-old British politician also added in his memo that there was a strong case for bringing sex aid toys fully within the scope of the corrupt test in the 1959 under Obscene Publications Act, but certain conceptual difficulties needed to overcome.

Late Thatcher, however, did not manage to ban adult toys, but she did manage to do away with a number of seemingly obscene books which were tend to deprave and corrupt.
