Fast food giant McDonald’s Corporation announced that it would stop offering halal items at two of its Michigan franchises after a 7, 00,000 dollar settlement with a muslim customer.

The two restaurants in Detroit suburb Dearborn will no longer carry Chicken McNuggets and McChicken sandwiches as the customer had accused McDonald’s of not consistently following Muslim law to meet the halal designation.

According to New York Daily News, the company said that in order to focus on their national core menu, it was dropping the halal items from the franchises.

Michigan attorney Kassem Dakhlallah said that it’s a good thing for consumers as the companies who were falsely advertising halal products have stopped pretending to be halal compliant.
