According to reports, two precise gunshots were fired into Al Jazeera's bureau in the Gaza Strip amid an intensified bombardment campaign on the Palestinian enclave. These shots caused panic among civilians living in the same building, but no casualties were reported in the incident on Tuesday morning, according to Al Jazeera.

According to a report by Al Jazeera's Stefanie Dekker, "Two very precise shots were fired straight into our building."

Below are some tweets from Stefanie.

The bureau is situated in a residential area of Gaza City and the attack came a day after Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was quoted saying that his country would work to close down Al Jazeera's operations in Israel.

"Al Jazeera has abandoned even the perception of being a reliable news organisation and broadcasts from Gaza and to the world anti-Israel incitement, lies, and encouragement to the terrorists," Lieberman had said while stating shutting down of news organisation.

Al Jazeera in its statement which was issued by lawyer Carter-Ruck: "The sole purpose of those [Al Jazeera] journalists since the commencement of the current conflict has been to convey what is happening in Gaza to those outside that area and to do so without fear or favour.

"They are entitled to do this, as journalists, under international law and the Government of Israel has a duty, under international law, to provide them with protection and most certainly not to target them in the manner threatened by Mr Lieberman yesterday and put into effect today by Israeli soldiers," he further had added.

This comes close to Edward Snowden stating the difficulties faced by journalists and freedom of speech that has been impaled by various agencies/forces.

In an interview with Guardian, Snowden had said, "An unfortunate side effect of the development of all these new surveillance technologies is that the work of journalism has become immeasurably harder than it ever has been in the past.Journalists have to be particularly conscious about any sort of network signalling, any sort of connection, any sort of licence-plate reading device that they pass on their way to a meeting point, any place they use their credit card, any place they take their phone, any email contact they have with the source because that very first contact, before encrypted communications are established, is enough to give it all away."

"Journalists had to ensure they made not a single mistake or they would be placing sources at risk. The same duty applied to other professions, he said, calling for training and new standards "to make sure that we have mechanisms to ensure that the average member of our society can have a reasonable measure of faith in the skills of all the members of these professions," he had concluded in the 13 minute long interview.

Al Jazeera has been covering the offensive since it broke out on July 8 and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman had taken offensive to its reportage.

According to IDF, Israeli forces have been bombing hospital in Gaza and using them for military purposes. Al Jazeera has mentioned moving out of the attacked office and continuing its reportage on the Gaza strip offensive by Israel.
