Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that good governance is the starting point of change and added that reforms launched by his government is aimed at boosting economic growth and improve quality of life.
Prime Minister Modi made this statement this morning, infront of captains of industry who met him at a breakfast hosted by Queensland Premier, Campbell Newman. Prime Minister Modi was also seen interacting with businessmen informally during the breakfast session.
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) tweeted sharing about Prime Minister Modi's message at the breakfast meet with the business leaders here.
"Good governance is the starting point to change: PM @narendramodi," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
Heaping lavish praise on Queensland's warm hospitality, Prime Minister Modi said that the Australian state can be an important partner in India's development.
"Queensland can be important partner in India's development, says PM @narendramodi during breakfast with Australian & Indian business leaders," PMO further tweeted.
According to television reports Prime Minister Modi also mentioned about the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) laws being eased by his government referring to in the areas of defence and railways. He added that reforms launched by his government is aimed at boosting economic growth and improve the quality of life.
The proceedings in the breakfast which was emceed by former Aussie paceman Michael Kasprowicz at the business breakfast for Prime Minister Modi and was later seen interacting with the latter, was tweeted by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin in his twitter handle.
Following the breakfast meet in Brisbane, Prime Minister Modi left for Sydney where he is expected to draw 16,000 people to his rally today, while 270 people have booked themselves seats on the "Modi Express" train, which will run from Melbourne to Sydney.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on Brisbane's Roma Street Parkland. Besides, Prime Minister Modi met German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud during the ongoing G-20 Summit. Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and Brisbane Mayor Graham Quirk had also hosted a reception for Prime Minister Modi at the City Hall as well.
Following his Sydney visit, Prime Minister Modi will then travel to Canberra and address the special joint sitting of the Australian Parliament on November 18. He will also address an Indian community event in Melbourne before travelling to Fiji.
