US witnessed one of the deadliest school mass shootings on Wednesday when a 19-year-old gunman opened fire at a Florida high school where around 17 people were killed before being arrested by the police. The shooter identified as Nikolas Cruz carried out the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida's Parkland, the school where was expelled before for disciplinary actions.  

Here is the list of deadliest school mass shootings in US:

Kentucky School Shooting ( January 23, 2018) 

A 15-year-old boy opened fire at Marshall County High School campus in rural western Kenttucky where he killed two fellow students and injured 30 others.The shooter entered the common area at the school and pulled out out his pistol and started firing the students. 

Umpqua Community College Shooting (October 1, 2015)

A 26-year-old man carried out one of the deadliest mass shooting as he opened fire on the campus of Umpqua Community College in Roseburg's Oregon where nine people were killed and seven injured. The shooter was later shot dead by police.

Santa Monica Shooting ( June 7, 2013)

After setting his house on fire over domestic dispute, a shooter went on a killing spree and entered Santa Monica College campus where he opened fire at students and killed many in the streets. He was gunned by police later. Around five people were killed and four people were injured during the incident.

Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting (December 14, 2012)

A 20-year-old man left his guns blazing at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut where 20 children were killed and six adult staff members were wounded. Adam Lanza gunned down the students and the school faculty before shooting himself in the head. The incident was declared as one of the deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school in US history.

Oikos University (April 2, 2012)

A 43-year-old former student at Oikos University, a Korean Christian College in Oakland, walked into a class and ordered students to line up and executed them one by one with his pistol. Around seven people were killed and three injured. L Goh, the shooter, was a nursing student at the college who was earlier expelled. It is believed he was angered at the school director who no longer worked there and since he didn't find him there, he randomly targeted victims.

Northern Illinois University (February 14, 2008)

Steven Kazmierczak opened fire at a crowd of students in the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois where five students were killed around 17 people were injured. He shot himself soon after the incident.

Virginia Tech University attack (April 16, 2007)

This is one of the deadliest school massacres in US history where around 32 people were killed and 17 injured when a senior student Seung-Hui Cho carried out shooting in two separate attacks inside campus in Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Virginia's Blacksburg. Cho used two firearms to carry out the attack in the college's co-ed dormitory and the other in the Engineering, Science and Mechanics building. Cho committed suicide within hours of the attack.
