European Union leaders will discuss the Ukraine crisis at a summit in Brussels on Wednesday and could adopt new sanctions against Russia if necessary, the bloc's enlargement commissioner said on Tuesday.
"Tomorrow in Brussels, the heads of state and government will again assess the situation on the ground and, should it be required, adopt necessary decisions," Stefan Fuele told the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.
At their previous meeting at the end of June, EU leaders warned Moscow it could face more sanctions unless pro-Russian rebels acted to wind down the crisis in the east of the country.
