On 21 June 2015, The Consulate General of India in Dubai along with Zee Network Middle East organised Dubai’s first ever International Yoga Day celebrations. An unexpected crowd of 17,000 people from over 60 nationalities gathered at the Al Wasl Sports Club in Dubai at 7 pm inspite of Ramadan and most people fasting
Zee was the only TV network which ran a massive campaign showcasing the benefits of yoga and testimonials by yoga practitioners present in the UAE across all Asian and Arabic channels of Zee Entertainment in the region as well as on social media to promote the event which helped bring the big crowd
Prominent personalities present at the event were World Amateur Boxing Champion Mary Kom, UAE Karate and Taekwondo Federation President Major General Al Razooqi, and Indian Consul General Anurag Bhushan.
Other dignitaries that graced the occasion included renowned yoga exponents Shri A G Mohan, Shri Rishi Nityapragya from Art of Living and Founder of Beloved Yoga, Maryam Ovissi

“Today, we celebrate Yoga and we celebrate how it is a wonderful support to the mind, soul and peace,” said Major General Al Razooqi.
The crowd followed yoga demonstrations that were being done by Beloved Yoga’s founder Maryam Ovissi on stage.

Over 500 volunteers were present at the event from organisations such as Art of Living and Friends of India in support of International Yoga Day, distributing refreshments throughout the event.
The football pitch could barely be seen as it was carpeted with the colourful yoga mats placed in front of participants.
The event ended at 10 pm after an award ceremony to recognise and reward organisations & individuals which made a charitable contribution and played a major role in spreading awareness of the benefits of Yoga in the Middle East
Zee Middle East posted live updates from the event on Twitter & also had screens set up so that the audience could live-tweet.
The complete event was exclusively covered by Zee and will be aired on Zee TV, &TV, and Zee Living as a 2-part special series
These special episodes will include interviews of Consul General Anurag Bhushan, Mary Kom, and demonstrations by yoga personalities Dr. Radhika Nagrath, Dr. Anushi Somaya, Shri Rishi Nitya Pragya, Mr. A G Mohan, Geraldine Hardy and Maryam Ovissi
