Earlier, US President Donald Trump threatened a government shutdown if his demand of funding a wall on the Mexican border is not met by Congress, and now he has taken his demand for a wall on the US-Mexico to a whole new level with his recent tweet.

Trump, on Sunday night, took to Twitter and warned that the border would eventually become militarized.

“The Trump portrait of an unsustainable Border Crisis is dead on. 'In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with Criminal Records, including those charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes & 4000 violent killings',” Trump said quoting a Pat Buchanan article.

Trump's tweet further read, “America’s Southern Border is eventually going to be militarized and defended or the United States, as we have known it, is going to cease to exist…And Americans will not go gentle into that good night. Patrick Buchanan. The great people of our Country demand proper Border Security NOW!”

Well, in all of his promises about immigration and the border wall, Donald Trump has never gone so far as to decide to militarize the border.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump had called on Congress on Tuesday to give him $5.7 billion to help build a wall on the US-Mexico border to tackle "a growing humanitarian and security crisis".

Trump said in a prime-time televised speech that illegal immigrants and drugs flowing across the southern border posed a serious threat to American safety.

He, however, stopped short of declaring a national emergency to pay for the wall with military funds.
