Rapper Kanye West has opened up about his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump, saying he discussed "multicultural issues" as he feels it is important to have a direct line of communication.

"I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues. These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.

"I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future president if we truly want change," West said in a series of tweets.

The rapper, who was recently hospitalised for mental exhaustion, also teased a potential presidential run of his own, tweeting, "#2024."

West, 39, was photographed entering Trump Tower with his entourage, including a videographer and Kris Jenner's boyfriend, Corey Gamble, on Tuesday.

"We've been friends for a long time," Trump, 70, told reporters as he posed for photos with West.
