The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government has appointed two consultants for construction of new school buildings at fifteen locations in the city.

According to the plan, the department will construct several new school buildings at a total of 29 sites and of these, new schools will also come up at some locations across the national capital.

The decision was taken at a recently-held meeting of the Consultant Appointment Committee of the Public Works Department.

"The department has finalised the appointment of two consultants for comprehensive planning and designing of construction of new school buildings at 15 locations.

"Consultants for new school buildings at the remaining 14 will be hired soon," a senior government official said.

Among the areas where new schools will come up are Dwarka's sectors 18, 19, 16, 11 and Jonapur.

The official said that with the construction of new schools buildings at 29 locations, around additional 10,000 new classrooms will be ready for students.

"We are expecting the completion of construction of all new schools buildings by next year," official also said.

The government has already constructed around 6,500 new classrooms in various schools while additional 1,500 will come up by October this year.
