Chinese internet watchdog has shut down 65 dating and match-making websites for fraud and spreading obscene content online.

According to China Daily, these websites leaked customer's information, convinced some user's  fraud, allowed registration with false names or spread obscene and lascivious content, said the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC).

The CAC's statement said that the impacts of such cases were terrible and that these circumstances are serious.

CAC launched a campaign earlier to clamp down on these websites to combat fraud. The administration said that these violations of regulations and fraud have become public nuisance to millions of users.

Dating websites in China need to impose online real-name registration and accounts that failed to register with real names would be closed.
