In what can be termed as a massive embarrassment for Pakistan, protesters from restive Balochistan region organised a solidarity march for Indian national Kulbhushna Jadhav, who is on a death row in Islamabad jail in Washington on Monday.

The protests, which were jointly organised by Balochis as well as local Indian-Americans, slammed the Pakistan government for insensitive treatment meted out to the family of Indian prisoner during their brief visit to Pakistani capital on December 25, 2017.

The placards held by the protesters trashed Pakistan as 'Chappal chor Pakistan' for keeping the shoes of Kulbhushan Jadhav's wife after she visited her jailed husband along with her mother-in-law.

'When they stole the chappal of a woman (KulbhushanJadhav's wife) who was in distress, I hope they use these also. I want to say one thing- Pakistan ka matlab kya? Amreeka (America) se dollar la, Hindustan ke joote kha (sic),' a protester was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

'Pakistan's narrow-mindedness was exposed with how they treated Kulbhushan Jadhav's mother and wife, what policy makers and people here need to understand is that Pak as a whole is also being run with same narrow-minded mentality,' another protester said.

Pakistani authorities reportedly sent the shoes worn by the former Indian Naval officer’s wife for forensic testing to examine the alleged presence of “a metallic object”. Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mohammad Faisal suspects it could be a camera or a recording chip.

“There was something in the shoes. It is being investigated. We gave her a pair of replacement shoes. Her other belongings were returned after the meeting,” Faisal had said.
