In Egypt, thousands were injured and many killed in clashes between government forces and supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood.
A YouTube video went viral that showed shocking footage of the military opening fire on unarmed demonstrators. Uploaded on August 16, the video is 56-seconds long captioned in Arabic.
"The army shoots at peaceful protesters in Ismailia", is the translated title of the video
shot in the northeastern Egyptian city, where Reuters reported four protesters were killed on Friday during a 'Day of Rage'.
The video starts with a group of men shouting slogans who march towards tanks in the city street.
The demonstrators in the video are unarmed and raise their arms in the air as they walk with banners. The video has rapid gunfire in the background. Soon the gunfire increases and protesters are seen dropping down seeking cover, trying to flee, etc.
A few men are seen getting shot in the brutal video as some try to help the injured out.
There is also a cell phone video of the shooting, recorded from a different angle by another eyewitness that has also been posted to YouTube.
In the 13-second clip a protester in front of a tank is directly shot at.
Reuters reported that, "Islamist protests descended into a bloodbath across Egypt on Friday, with more than 100 killed on a 'Day of Rage' called by followers of ousted President Mohamed Mursi to denounce a crackdown by the army-backed government."
The news agency also reported that, "Egyptian authorities rounded up more than 1,000 Islamists as the Muslim Brotherhood leadership defiantly called a week of nationwide protests starting on Saturday after a day of carnage."
