Chad President announced on Wednesday that the chief of the Islamist group Boko Haram Abubakar Shekau has been ousted from the violent group. He also said that their aim ois finish the group by the year's end.
The news has come as a relief to the residents of Nigeria who have been tormented by the extremist Islamist group which has killed thousands of Nigerians and displaced many.
Chad President Idriss Deby said that the position of the chief of Boko Haram has been replaced by the Shekau's deputy Mahamat Daoud which is reportedly open to peace talks with the Nigerian government.
Debby further said that the new chief showed an interest in a negotiation with the Nigerian government however, the Chadian president said that it would not be appropriate to conduct negotiations with the leader of a terrorist group, according to reports.
Debby, while addressing the press conference said, "There is someone apparently called Mahamat Daoud who is said to have replaced Abubakr Shekau and he wants to negotiate with the Nigerian government...For my part, I would advise not to negotiate with a terrorist," according to Telegraph.
