A 17-year-old Russian girl has been arrested by police for allegedly being the mastermind behind the Blue Whale Challenge, that encouraged players to commit suicide.

A 17-year-old Russian girl has been arrested by police for allegedly being the mastermind behind the Blue Whale Challenge, that encouraged players to commit suicide.

The deadly online challenges players for over 50 days, wherein demanding them to complete tasks given by an anonymous controller.

The game firstly asks the player to draw a whale on a piece of paper, then carve a whale figure on their body, and then gives other tasks such as watching horror movies alone etc. The tasks include the final challenge to commit suicide.

 

The teenager issued threats to her victims to murder them or their family members if they failed to complete tasks, reported the Daily Mail.

The report said that footage released by police show them searching the girl's home in Kamchatka.

The police also found evidence linked to the 'suicide game', including chilling drawings of figures with their wrists cut, and a portrait of the inventor of Blue Whale.

 

Her possessions included a drawing she made of Philipp Budeikin, the 22-year-old man accused of being the 'inventor' of the Blue Whale game, the report said.

Admitting to being the driving factor behind the suicides of youngsters playing the game, Philipp Budeikin, who claims to have created the game, says that the victims were just ‘biological waste’.

"Victims were ‘happy to die’ and I am ‘cleansing society’," Budeikin told police when he was arrested in May this year.
