Desperate times call for desperate measures. That's what Pakistanis had in mind when they decided to use belly dancers to woo investors during an investment conference in Azerbaijan earlier this week. 

Pakistan's Sarhad Chamber of Commerce or SCCI organised a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Investment Opportunities Conference in Azerbaijan's capital Baku which had belly dancers among major attraction.

The SCCI, based in Peshawar, organised the conference from September 4-8 in Azerbaijan.

In a video that is going viral on social media, several dancers are seen performing exotic dance at the investment conference.

Pakistan's economy is facing the heat and for that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been going to UAE, China and speaking to International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout. Pakistan recently got a US $3 million loan from the UAE to support its economy.

IMF team will visit Pakistan in mid-September as part of Islamabad's technical work program.

Earlier this year, the IMF agreed on US $6bn bailout for Pakistan's beleaguered economy for 3 years.

This is the 13th bailout the south Asian country got since 1980s. The last time Pakistan got a bailout package from IMF was in 2013.

The global rating agency Standard & Poor's (S&P) downgraded Pakistan from B to B- with a stable outlook in the first week of February due to diminished growth prospects.
