Israeli air strikes on four high-rise buildings in the final days of the Gaza conflict amounted to war crimes, Amnesty International said.

A new report prepared by the monitoring group said evidence suggested that the destruction was carried out deliberately and with no "military justification," reported the BBC. It called for an "independent and impartial" investigation into the war crimes, the report said.

Meanwhile, Israel termed the allegations baseless and said that the report ignored Hamas' use of buildings for military purposes.

The Israeli embassy in London said that the organisation should investigate the Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians instead.
